Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population announced that health facilities in Port Said governorate delivered 362,662 medical services through its hospitals and units throughout 2025. These efforts were carried out under the directives of Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, as part of the 'Egypt Vision 2030' strategy for universal health coverage.
In an official statement, the ministry reported that the Health Affairs Directorate in Port Said delivered 127,026 services at the Chest and Fever hospitals, benefiting 43,836 citizens. This included 34,319 outpatient clinic services, 33,909 emergency cases, 536 internal admissions, and 70 ICU cases. Facilities also conducted 9,297 remote diagnostic services and processed 4,957 infectious disease surveillance reports.
The Marine Hospital (Chest and Fever) saw major upgrades, expanding to 20 ICU beds, 26 internal beds, and six emergency and isolation beds. An old radiology building was demolished, radiology services were digitized with film printing capabilities, and a new structure was built for radiology, laboratories, and clinics. A new 20-bed chest ICU was inaugurated.
The Dental and Genetic Counselling centres offered 74,197 services to 27,087 beneficiaries, supported by evening clinic activations. The specialised dental centre, with 15 departments and 14 chairs equipped with digital sensors and a prosthetics lab, resumed operations after a pause since 2022.
Waleed Abdel Maqsoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Port Said, stated that the Genetic Counselling centre provided 16,412 services. These encompassed 7,315 physiotherapy sessions, 4,498 genetic counselling sessions, 2,438 lab tests, 251 speech therapy sessions, 187 dermatology consultations, 137 ENT services, and 5,141 health certificates. Formula milk was distributed to 4,629 infants under six months and 6,102 children over six months.
Presidential health initiatives accounted for 161,439 services to 11,877 citizens. Maritime health activities involved inspecting and vaccinating 6,159 ships at Port Said port and receiving three cruise ships. Food safety checks covered 1,244 facilities, collecting 1,394 samples.
Abdel Maqsoud emphasized community outreach teams, with over 120,000 citizens benefiting from awareness campaigns in public spaces and health units to support presidential initiatives and promote healthy behaviors.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry's spokesperson, highlighted these efforts as key to advancing universal health coverage under Egypt Vision 2030.
