The Netflix series Ransom Canyon returned for its second season on July 23 with explanations for the absence of several Season 1 characters. Showrunner April Blair cited fan reactions as a factor in writing out Davis and his family. A new character played by Patricia Clarkson also joins the cast.
Ransom Canyon season 2 premiered on Netflix on July 23. The episode addresses the departures of Davis, played by Eoin Macken, his son Reid Collins, played by Andrew Liner, and ex-wife Paula Jo, played by Meta Golding. Characters Quinn and Ellie discuss how the end of a pipeline project led to financial troubles, prompting Davis to move to Austin and reconcile with Paula Jo while Reid attends Texas A&M.
Showrunner April Blair told TVLine that fan feedback influenced the decision to remove Davis as a romantic rival for Staten. She noted that viewers did not support a relationship between Quinn and Davis. Blair added that the exits allowed the series to expand its ensemble and introduce new storylines.
The season also features Patricia Clarkson as Quinn's mother Claire O'Grady, described as eccentric and recently returned to her daughter's life. The premiere is now streaming.
