Restrepo and Ávila conclude meeting to define government transition

Vice president-elect José Manuel Restrepo and Finance Minister Germán Ávila ended their meeting at Casa de Nariño to set the route for the transition between administrations.

During the meeting, Restrepo formally requested that the outgoing administration of President Gustavo Petro refrain from submitting a tax reform bill on July 20. He argued that the initiative should be left to the new government.

Ávila described the encounter as "amable" and indicated that the first transition report will be delivered on July 24, with a data cutoff in June. The next meeting is scheduled for the following Tuesday.

President-elect Abelardo De La Espriella presented four objectives to guide the process: combat corruption, reconstruct the narratives of the homeland, stabilize public function, and redesign the state. "I will not accept any act of corruption in my government", he stated.

Petro agreed that the transition sessions should be televised. Restrepo emphasized that the transition will proceed with speed, technical rigor, and transparency.
