Rotpunkt highlights rising trend for new-age kitchen materials

German kitchen manufacturer Rotpunkt is emphasizing the increasing demand for innovative materials in kitchen design for 2026. The company points to surface designs that shape the tone, texture, and identity of modern kitchens. Natural tones and tactile finishes are expected to lead furniture trends across homes.

Rotpunkt, a German kitchen manufacturer, has spotlighted the growing popularity of new-age materials as kitchen design evolves in 2026. According to the company, these materials are becoming essential in defining the aesthetic and functionality of contemporary spaces.

Matt Phillips, Head of UK Operations at Rotpunkt, noted the shift toward natural elements. "No matter where you are in the home, natural tones and textures will dominate furniture design this year, with a focus on quality materials in wood, metal, glass and stone," he said.

Wood continues to play a central role, with oak and walnut specified in light and dark variations for elements like doors, drawer fronts, shelving, cupboard interiors, and wall cladding. A emerging technique called "wood drenching" applies the same timber to cabinetry and surrounding surfaces, fostering an immersive and organic environment that ensures visual unity and durability.

Metallic elements are adding contrast and depth, featuring brass, copper, and steel. These include matt black and stainless-steel appliances alongside warm brass or copper fixtures. Trends point to industrial-style hardware and smoked brass finishes, which offer a practical yet adaptable look under varying lighting.

Glass is used to delineate zones in open-plan kitchens without solid barriers. Key developments include coloured glass in warm, earthy, or near-black shades, as well as fluted or reeded fronts that add texture to cabinetry. Smoked brass glass and fluted panels serve as options to traditional handleless designs, creating layered effects.

Stone-inspired surfaces, such as marble, textured concrete, ceramic, and porcelain, are applied to cabinetry, worktops, and walls for an architectural feel. These are often combined with black appliances and hardware to heighten contrast.

Homeowners are increasingly opting for personalized material blends to achieve unique yet cohesive kitchens. Rotpunkt plans to showcase its latest innovations at Kbb Birmingham from March 1 to 4, 2026, at Stand Q90.

The company advances its "Together to zero" climate strategy by offsetting production emissions. Its furniture features Greenline BioBoard Gen2, a chipboard with up to 90% recycled wood that complies with strict formaldehyde emission standards.
