Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for Scary Movie 6, the latest installment in the horror parody franchise. The film reunites Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Wayans for the first time in 18 years to write the script, marking the series' return since 2013. The trailer spoofs several recent horror films including Sinners, Weapons, and The Substance.
The trailer for Scary Movie 6, unveiled by Paramount Pictures, brings back key elements from the franchise's early days. Marlon and Shawn Wayans reunite with Regina Hall and Anna Faris, who reprise their roles as Brenda, Cindy, and Shorty, respectively. The spoof targets modern horror tropes, parodying films such as Sinners, Weapons, The Substance, Get Out, Smile, Terrifier, and Longlegs, along with Netflix's Wednesday and the Ghostface subway scene from Scream 6. It also features a dancing robot killer named Megan and mocks Pennywise and Ghostface, with some political undertones noted in coverage.
This marks the first Scary Movie entry since Scary Movie 5 in 2013. The Wayans brothers—Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen—write the film, their first collaboration in 18 years. They produce alongside Rick Alvarez, with Michael Tiddes directing. Returning cast members include Lochlyn Munro, Dave Sheridan, Jon Abrahams, Cheri Oteri, and Chris Elliott. New additions feature Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Cameron Scott Roberts, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Ruby Snowber, and Benny Zielke.
The original Scary Movie from 2000 was a box office hit, opening at $42.5 million and becoming one of the highest-grossing R-rated horror films at the time, directed by Keenen Wayans. Miramax produces the sixth film, with executive producers Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Loewy, and Thom Zadra. Under its first-look deal with Miramax, Paramount will release Scary Movie 6 worldwide on June 12.
