Senators recall Halliday and Thomson before road trip

The Ottawa Senators have recalled forward Stephen Halliday and defenseman Lassi Thomson from the Belleville Senators ahead of their longest road trip of the season. Both players could see action in California, with Halliday potentially making his NHL debut.

Before departing for their extended road journey, the Ottawa Senators bolstered their roster by recalling forward Stephen Halliday and defenseman Lassi Thomson from the American Hockey League's Belleville Senators on Tuesday.

Halliday, a 6-foot-4, 212-pound center, was selected by the Senators in the fourth round (104th overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. After a successful college career at Ohio State University, he has thrived in the AHL this season with Belleville, recording one goal and 15 assists in 15 games to lead the team's scoring. Last weekend, Halliday scored in a shootout to help Belleville secure a comeback victory in Utica, contributing to the affiliate's perfect road weekend of three wins in four days.

Thomson, a Finnish defenseman and first-round pick (19th overall) in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, brings prior NHL experience with 18 games played, his last appearance in November 2022. In 15 AHL games this season with Belleville, he has tallied three goals and one assist for four points.

The Senators are set to play their next seven games on the road, starting Thursday at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
