Mexico City police arrested Gerardo R., identified as the suspected feminicide of Blanca Ruth, who was strangled in 2013. The young woman was a key witness in the 2002 multihomicide of the Narezo Loyola family. The arrest took place in the Pedregal del Maurel neighborhood.
Officers from the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and the Investigative Police (PDI) of the General Prosecutor's Office (FGJ) executed an arrest warrant against Gerardo R., aged 52, for aggravated feminicide. The crime took place on June 19, 2013, in the Coyoacán borough, where Blanca Ruth was found dead from strangulation and asphyxiation, according to city authorities. The victim had been identified as the main witness in the multihomicide of the Narezo Loyola family, which occurred in November 2002 in the Toriello Guerra neighborhood, Tlalpan borough. In that incident, five family members and two domestic workers were found with their throats slit and gunshot wounds. A man identified as the material author remains imprisoned for those crimes. Cabinet and field investigations led police to Avenida Del Imán in the Pedregal del Maurel neighborhood, Coyoacán, where they intercepted the suspect. He was informed of his constitutional rights and turned over to the relevant authority at a Mexico City penitentiary center.
