Swerve Strickland addressed the state of relations between AEW and NJPW in a recent Forbes interview. He also reflected on his two singles matches against Kenny Omega earlier this year.
Swerve Strickland said the AEW-NJPW relationship is in an interesting place as both promotions develop new talent. He noted that AEW stars including Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Bandido and Takeshita are rising while NJPW features Callum Newman and Yota Tsuji. Strickland added that he wants STARDOM to match the rising wave of AEW women's talent.
The wrestler also discussed his two matches with Kenny Omega on AEW Dynamite. Swerve won the first bout while Omega took the second and earned an AEW World Championship match at Revolution.
“It was all the validation I needed,” Strickland said of facing Omega. He described a motivated Kenny Omega as dangerous and said the two should compete when both are healthy.
