Telangana government creates new police commissionerate for Future City

The Telangana government has reorganized its police administration to establish a new commissionerate for the proposed Future City on Hyderabad's outskirts, signaling momentum in urban development plans. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's initiative aims to create the fourth major city in the region alongside Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Cyberabad. This move aligns with the state's vision for sustainable growth and improved public services.

Indicating commitment to the Future City project, the Telangana government reorganized police structures on Monday to form four commissionerates: Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri, and Future City. This follows the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's (GHMC) expansion, which merged 27 municipalities inside the Outer Ring Road into the Core Urban Region (CURE) and restructured into 12 zones, 60 circles, and 300 wards.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy proposed Future City as a hub for sustainable urban development and technological innovation, located between Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar highways. The reorganization aims to enhance law and order, crime control, and public services in rapidly growing areas.

Under the new setup, the Hyderabad Commissionerate covers key sites like the Assembly, Secretariat, Begumpet, Shamshabad Airport, and Budvel High Court. Cyberabad includes IT hubs such as Gachibowli, Financial District, Nanakramguda, Madhapur, and Raidurg, plus industrial zones like Patancheru and Genome Valley. The Malkajgiri Commissionerate, formerly Rachakonda, encompasses Keesara, Shamirpet, Quthbullapur, and Kompally. Future City's commissionerate will oversee Chevella, Moinabad, Shankarpally, Maheshwaram, and Ibrahimpatnam.

Appointments include G Sudheer Babu as Future City Police Commissioner, Avinash Mohanty for Malkajgiri, Dr M Ramesh for Cyberabad, and Akshansh Yadav as Superintendent of Police for the new Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district.

This aligns with the Telangana Rising 2047 Vision Document, unveiled on December 9 at the Telangana Rising Global Summit, outlining a path to a $3-trillion economy by 2047. 'State government has reorganised the police administration and created four new police commissionerates in accordance with the reorganisation of the GHMC and the Future City,' a statement from the Chief Minister's Office noted. Other departments are undergoing similar zonal divisions for targeted regional development.
