Tifa Lockhart joins Street Fighter 6 roster

Capcom has added Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII to Street Fighter 6 as a Year 4 DLC fighter. The announcement came during Summer Game Fest 2026. Director Takayuki Nakayama discussed the choice in an interview.

Tifa is the first guest character in the series to originate outside Capcom and fighting games. Nakayama said the addition allows the team to try new approaches and attract players unfamiliar with Street Fighter. Discussions with Square Enix began around Tokyo Game Show 2023. Nakayama noted that Tifa's martial arts style made her a natural fit, and her portrayal draws mainly from the Final Fantasy VII Remake series. Guest characters form part of a plan to keep the series active for years ahead, according to Nakayama. He said the team reviewed social media reactions after the reveal and found them positive overall. Tifa is scheduled to release later, with details on her moveset still limited at this stage.
