Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream demo launches on Switch

Two months after its reveal, Nintendo has released the 'Welcome Version' demo for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on Switch eShop. Players can create up to three Miis, with save data transferable to the full game launching April 16, plus a hamster costume unlock upon completion.

Nintendo announced the demo's availability on March 25 via social media. Now live on the eShop, it offers hands-on play ahead of the April 16 release. Finishing the demo rewards a hamster costume for Miis in the full version.

Early testers have shared insights: the game lacks a swear filter, allowing unfiltered Mii dialogue—e.g., Samuel Schultz tweeted, 'Tomodachi Life has no filter in it btw,' and Ori noted, 'THERE'S JUST NO SWEAR FILTER???' Image and video sharing faces vague restrictions, though USB transfers to computers work.

As a standard Switch title, it's compatible with both original Switch and Switch 2 hardware, without Switch 2-specific enhancements. The demo's open-ended play evokes viral moments from the 3DS original.
