Former player and columnist Tostão stated that the Netflix series 'Brasil 70 — A Saga do Tri' contains many invented and sensationalist scenes.
Tostão, who was part of the Brazilian team that won the 1970 World Cup, wrote in his Folha column that the pressure from Pelé and other players for his starting spot was not explicit as portrayed in the series. He described Pelé as a conscious, balanced, good-humored and emotionally strong athlete. The columnist praised the production for being well made and moving, with good reproduction of plays and goals. However, he criticized the use of dramatizations to highlight the sporting achievement. Tostão also discussed football tactics, stating that debates over formations such as 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 are obsolete due to the current speed and intensity of the game.
