Canada’s trade minister will lead a business delegation to India in October as negotiators from both countries completed the third round of talks on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in Ottawa this week.
Negotiators from India and Canada held the third round of CEPA talks in Ottawa from July 6 to 10. The agreement aims to give Canadian goods and services preferential access to India’s market while improving transparency and supply chain resilience.
Maninder Sidhu, Canada’s minister of international trade, is scheduled to head the delegation in October. His office stated that the pact will reduce trade barriers and create rules that benefit Canadian businesses and workers.
The talks follow meetings between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney at the G7 Summit in France last month. Both sides have expressed satisfaction with progress in earlier rounds held in New Delhi in May.
