Tyla previews 'PUSH 2 START' ahead of deluxe album

South African singer Tyla has shared a preview of her new track 'PUSH 2 START' just days before the release of the deluxe edition of her self-titled album. The song will appear alongside two other new additions on October 11. This follows the success of her original album, which earned a Grammy for 'Water'.

On October 8, Tyla released a self-recorded video previewing 'PUSH 2 START', a track set to feature on the upcoming TYLA (Deluxe). The deluxe version, arriving this Friday, October 11, will also include 'BACK to YOU' and 'SHAKE AH', the latter produced with contributions from Tony Duardo, Optimist, and Maestro.

In the preview, Tyla sings lyrics that capture an intense, intimate vibe: “The way we move, uh, skin on skin/ No separation, need no compensation, nah, nah, nah/ Ah, on everything/ It’s automatic, goin’ zero to a hund', nah, nah, nah.” She continues, “Ride it, wishin' the wheels will fall off/ Time is ticking, it’s taking you too long/ Right before I decide to go home.”

The original TYLA album, released in March, introduced Tyla to a global audience with collaborations from artists like Travis Scott, Gunna, Skillibeng, and Becky G. Its standout single, 'Water', won Best African Music Performance at the 2024 Grammy Awards. Reflecting on the album's purpose, Tyla told ESSENCE Girls United, “The album direction was me wanting to introduce myself to everybody, and it only made sense for it to be called TYLA and for people to realize I’m here.” She added, “Yes, it’s self-titled, but I think it’s the perfect album to be my self-titled one.”

Tyla also praised her collaboration with Tems on 'No. 1', saying, “I’m just so happy with the way it turned out. Her voice is just so strong and emotional. I feel like she was the touch I wanted on the album.”

Looking ahead, Tyla has a busy schedule, including a performance at the Corona Capital Festival in November and December shows in Africa, such as at Cape Town’s GrandWest Grand Arena on December 5 and Pretoria’s SunBet Arena on December 7. She will also headline a Coke Studio concert in her hometown of Johannesburg that month.
