The Office of the United States Trade Representative announced the application of an additional 12.5% tariff on products entering the country from Colombia. This represents an increase of 2.5 percentage points from the previous 10% tariff.
According to the Economic Affairs Directorate of ANALDEX, the increase would affect Colombian exports that totaled US$4.438 million in 2025. These sales represented 29.8% of Colombian exports to the United States that year.
The most exposed sectors include flowers, foliage and live plants, which exported US$1.899 million in 2025. The measure responds to an investigation into policies to control imports linked to forced labor, in which Colombia was included in the group of economies that have not applied effective prohibitions.
