Unlicensed youth hits and kills woman on pedestrian crossing in SP

A 36-year-old woman died after being hit by a 19-year-old unlicensed driver on Avenida Luiz Dumont Villares in Parada Inglesa, northern São Paulo, on Saturday night (April 11). The victim was rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries. The driver attempted to flee but was detained by police.

Elizete da Silva Santos, 36, a convenience store clerk at a gas station, was crossing Avenida Luiz Dumont Villares on the pedestrian crossing after work when she was struck on the night of April 11, 2026.

The driver, 19-year-old cook Fahed Al Kujok, lacked a driver's license (CNH). According to the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), he hit the victim, causing multiple trauma, a femur fracture, and severe head injuries. The speed limit there is 50 km/h.

Elizete was taken by Samu ambulance to Hospital do Mandaqui but did not survive. Al Kujok tried to flee without aiding her but was apprehended by military police shortly after. His breathalyzer test was negative for alcohol.

The case is filed as unintentional homicide while driving a motor vehicle at the 39th Police District (Vila Gustavo). Civil Police are probing the vehicle's speed, adherence to crossing signals, and potential surveillance footage.
