Unsuccessful searches in Khadidja Bengrine disappearance investigation

New searches in Finistère related to the 2004 disappearance of Khadidja Bengrine proved unsuccessful, the Nanterre prosecutor's office said Thursday.

Khadidja Bengrine, aged 21, disappeared in summer 2004 from her home in Quimperlé, which she shared with her partner Philippe Chalony, the main suspect in the case.

The Nanterre serial or unsolved crimes unit prosecutor's office confirmed that investigations continue despite the lack of results from the latest searches. Magistrates and investigators remain open to any additional testimony.

The case, initially closed without follow-up in 2013 by the Quimper prosecutor's office, was reopened in 2022. Philippe Chalony was indicted in 2023 for kidnapping and sequestration followed by death. He is currently serving a twelve-year sentence for other offenses.
