Chile's Meteorological Directorate forecasts normal to moderate winds from Sunday morning April 12 to Tuesday 14 in La Araucanía, Los Lagos, and Aysén due to a cold front. The strongest gusts, up to 100 km/h, are expected in Aysén. Similar winds are also affecting the far north since Saturday.
Chile's Meteorological Directorate reported that a cold front will bring winds to the coastal area of La Araucanía, interior coast, coast, and Chiloé in Los Lagos, and northern islands, southern islands, and southern austral cordillera in Aysén.
In La Araucanía, winds will range from 40 to 60 km/h on Tuesday 14. In Los Lagos, expect 40 to 60 km/h with gusts of 70 km/h in Chiloé on Monday, and Tuesday 40 to 60 km/h with 70 km/h gusts on coasts, up to 60 to 80 km/h in Chiloé. Aysén will see the strongest: 60 to 80 km/h with 100 km/h gusts Sunday and Monday in southern austral cordillera and southern islands, and 40 to 60 km/h with 80 km/h gusts in northern islands.
In the north, from Saturday afternoon to Tuesday, a segregated low pressure system is causing winds in Tarapacá and Antofagasta. Coastal cordillera will see 50 to 80 km/h, peaking Tuesday; Tarapacá 50 to 70 km/h; Antofagasta up to 60 to 80 km/h in several areas, with 60 km/h gusts in the pampa.
