The US Justice Department released new documents related to Jeffrey Epstein on December 20, 2025, revealing a Swedish connection in the form of a 15-year-old girl. According to the 2016 deposition in New York district court, a witness observed Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell with the girl around 2005. The interrogator asked Epstein if they brought the girl, referred to as NN in the documents, to the US under false pretenses to have sex with him.
Epstein repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment in the US Constitution and refused to answer. When asked if the girl refused sex and if Maxwell denied her passport to force her, he again replied 'Fifth'. A witness stated that the girl was shaking when she refused Epstein's demands.
The documents are part of a larger release following a congressional decision to publicize Epstein's files. Epstein died by suicide in prison in 2019 at age 66, according to the FBI investigation. Maxwell is serving 20 years in prison for recruiting underage girls to Epstein, as young as 14.
Swedish connections in the files include Epstein's trips to Stockholm in 2002 and 2003, but the 15-year-old's case is the most direct example of alleged trafficking from Sweden.
