AfDB approves $214.47 million for second phase of Horn transport corridor

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a 214.47 million dollar concessional loan for the second phase of the South Sudan-Ethiopia-Djibouti Transport Corridor Project. Ethiopia receives 181.5 million dollars, Djibouti 29.71 million dollars, and South Sudan 1.96 million dollars. This funding seeks to strengthen connectivity in the Horn of Africa.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a 214.47 million dollar financing package for the second phase of the South Sudan-Ethiopia-Djibouti Transport Corridor Project. This concessional loan from the Bank's resources aims to upgrade transport infrastructure connecting the three nations.

The funds are allocated as follows: 181.5 million dollars to Ethiopia, 29.71 million dollars to Djibouti, and 1.96 million dollars to South Sudan. South Sudan also receives an additional 1.3 million dollars through the Bank's Transition Support Facility, targeted at fragile states.

This project supports regional integration and economic growth in the Horn of Africa. Improved transport corridors will enhance cross-border trade and movement.
