China's Ministry of Public Security said Thursday that Chinese and U.S. law enforcement have jointly solved a cross-border trafficking case involving new psychoactive substances, with one suspect arrested in each country.
China's Ministry of Public Security narcotics control bureau and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration launched a joint investigation into the case in 2024.
In February 2026, police in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin arrested a suspect surnamed Gong based on clues provided by the U.S. side. Earlier, U.S. authorities arrested an American suspect linked to the same case in the state of Georgia.
The ministry said the successful resolution reflects the institutionalized operation of China-U.S. anti-drug law enforcement cooperation and demonstrates the firm stance of both countries' agencies against drug-related criminal activities.
