Cole Ragans faces setback during elbow injury rehab

Kansas City Royals pitcher Cole Ragans has encountered a minor setback in his recovery from a left elbow impingement. The issue arose after a promising rehab start with Triple-A Omaha. Manager Matt Quatraro provided an update on Monday.

Ragans allowed one run over 4 1/3 innings in his Saturday outing, reaching 68 pitches with consistent velocity. He reported no immediate pain but woke up Sunday with stiffness similar to symptoms experienced earlier in May. The Royals placed him on the 15-day injured list retroactive to May 7 after he exited a start against the Guardians on May 6.
