A woman sentenced to six years in prison for leaving her five-year-old daughter locked alone in an apartment where the child died in a fire has appealed the verdict. Prosecutors have also appealed seeking a stricter penalty. The events occurred in Hisingen.
The girl was left alone in the Hisingen apartment on repeated occasions. One night in February this year a fire broke out and she died.
In July the mother was convicted of gross causing of another's death along with numerous counts of causing danger and unlawful deprivation of liberty. She received a six-year prison sentence.
The woman now wants the verdict dismissed entirely. Prosecutors meanwhile seek a stricter sentence.
