Egypt reviews plans for first national medical simulation centre

Egypt’s Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar reviewed progress on the “Nile” project, the country’s first national medical simulation and clinical training centre, during a Monday meeting. He described the centre as a “major leap” in medical education to provide realistic simulation environments for improving clinical skills and patient safety. Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar noted that the initial designs were well-received for their modern and professional execution.

On Monday, Egypt’s Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar reviewed progress on the “Nile” project, the nation’s first national medical simulation and clinical training centre, according to the Ministry of Health. The initiative aims to advance medical education by offering healthcare professionals realistic simulation environments to enhance clinical skills and patient safety using cutting-edge international technologies.

Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar emphasized that the initial designs were positively received for their modern and professional approach, with the project poised to significantly boost medical training in Egypt. The meeting covered a detailed examination of the planned training departments, their roles, and program structures based on advanced global simulation methods.

The minister instructed officials to scrutinize all technical and engineering aspects, update implementation timelines and indicators, and prepare a comprehensive Arabic-language report on construction and equipment costs alongside a sustainable operational plan. Two preliminary architectural and functional designs are due within a week and will be presented to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi prior to execution.

Senior ministry officials and technical advisers attended the meeting, joined remotely by the director of Qatar’s Itqan Centre for Excellence and Learning via video link.
