South Korea failed to add to its medal tally at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics on Friday. Figure skater Cha Jun-hwan finished fourth in men's singles, narrowly missing bronze, while snowboarder Lee Chaeun placed sixth in men's halfpipe. The team secured a second straight win in women's curling by beating Britain 9-3.
At the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics on Friday, February 14, 2026 (local time), South Korea's athletes failed to secure medals in figure skating and snowboarding events. In men's singles figure skating, Cha Jun-hwan fell while attempting a quadruple toe loop early in his free skate but executed other elements cleanly, scoring 181.20 points—the fifth-best in the free skate. He finished fourth overall with 273.92 points, just 0.98 points behind Japan's Shun Sato, the bronze medalist.
In the men's halfpipe snowboarding at Livigno Snow Park, 140 kilometers north of Milan, Lee Chaeun scored 87.50 points to place sixth. Among the 12 finalists who each completed three runs, with the best score counting, Lee failed to finish his first two attempts but landed all five tricks in his third run. It was not enough for a podium spot.
Meanwhile, in women's curling at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium in Cortina d'Ampezzo, 260 kilometers northeast of Milan, South Korea defeated Britain 9-3 for its second consecutive win, bringing its round-robin record to 2-1 in the 10-team competition. In another event at the Cortina Sliding Centre, Jung Seung-gi finished 10th in men's skeleton with a combined time of 3:45.90 over four runs across two days.
South Korea ended the day without medals but showed promise in curling.
