Hanna Hellquist appointed new director general of Sida

The Swedish government has appointed Hanna Hellquist as the new director general of the aid agency Sida. She has served in an acting capacity since February.

Hanna Hellquist has been överdirektör at Sida since 2025 and previously worked at the Foreign Ministry. She succeeds Jakob Granit who left the position in February.

Aid and foreign trade minister Benjamin Dousa (M) welcomed the appointment. He highlighted her experience in international development cooperation.

"This provides important continuity for the operations. Hanna Hellquist has long and solid experience of international development cooperation which will be useful for leading the agency", he said in a press release.
