International students try Midsummer traditions for the first time

Two students at Uppsala University will celebrate Midsummer for the first time on Friday.

Alinna Alonso from Mexico and Catherine de Smedt from Belgium study at Uppsala University. They have limited experience with the tradition.

SVT Uppsala brought them to Ekonomikumparken to show herring, snaps and dancing around the pole.

– For me this will be my first Midsummer celebration, says Alinna Alonso.

Catherine de Smedt looks forward to the celebration as a big thing in Sweden.
