Lucas Ekeståhl Jonsson returns to Björklöven on three-year deal

Defenseman Lucas Ekeståhl Jonsson has signed a three-year contract with Björklöven, his original club in Umeå. The 30-year-old returns after several seasons away in other leagues.

The announcement came one day after his departure from Rögle was made official. Ekeståhl Jonsson left Umeå in 2017 and has since played in Finland's Liiga, Sweden's SHL and Switzerland's National League.

In his most recent season with Rögle he recorded 26 points in 52 SHL games. Rögle sports chief Hampus Sjöström confirmed earlier that the player was not part of the club's future plans.

Ekeståhl Jonsson expressed excitement about the move in a video posted on the club's X account. He called it a great opportunity to play again for his mother club and its fans.

The signing adds experience and offensive skill to Björklöven's roster ahead of upcoming seasons.
