Leksand forward Max Véronneau has stayed in Sweden for over a month after the season ended, discussing payment of his sign-off bonus. As one of several foreign players who opted for this arrangement, he told Falu-Kuriren that previous management failed to set aside funds, leading to repayment plans. 'The entire economic situation has made us need to negotiate, and it's been easier to do it on site,' Véronneau said. No resolution is in place yet, but he hopes for one soon, a couple of weeks after Leksand's SHL relegation. Véronneau joined Leksand in 2021, scoring 34 goals in his debut season and 38 total over the last three years. He cited multiple factors, including the club's finances, for their tough season and relegation. On whether he would return, he did not close the door. 'Honestly, with the whole economic situation, it's difficult. If an offer comes and Leksand can pay, which is important, I can't close any doors right now,' he told Falu-Kuriren. He called Leksand a second home and said helping promote them back would be a fantastic story, but business matters come first. After a 10-day stop in Iceland, Véronneau heads to Canada to weigh options. He would welcome another SHL chance to prove himself and enjoys traveling to new places. Leksand's priority, he said, is fixing its economy.
