Mora IK thanks five players after playoff elimination

Mora IK has parted ways with five players following their exit from the playoffs. The team suffered a 1-6 defeat to Södertälje in the second game of the eighth finals. Defender Kristoffer Gunnarsson confirmed his departure after the match.

Mora IK's season ended abruptly with a 1-6 loss to Södertälje in game two of the eighth finals playoffs. This defeat marked their elimination from the postseason, prompting the club to thank five players for their contributions and confirm their departures as free agents or transfers elsewhere. The players bidding farewell are defender Kristoffer Gunnarsson, Connor MacEachern, Ethan De Jong, Brayden Tracey, and Gustav Olhaver. Reports from Expressen indicate that MacEachern and De Jong are set to join HPK in Finland. Gunnarsson, a 29-year-old who spent six consecutive seasons with Mora—including the last four as assistant captain—spoke candidly after the game. He revealed ongoing discussions with sporting director Andreas Hägglund leading to this decision. 'Now I'm just going to let go of hockey for a while and see what happens. I'm not staying in Mora. Then we'll see what happens, but I'm not staying anyway,' Gunnarsson said. Asked if it was his own choice, he affirmed: 'Yes, my own and my own. There's no special reason. I've had a good time in Mora, but I feel it's time to move on. Where it will be, I have no idea, but there will be a change.' This move aligns with a planned shift following the disappointing playoff performance.
