Jaquisha Beasley célébrait son anniversaire à La Nouvelle-Orléans lorsqu'elle a appris que son fils de 13 ans avait été mortellement blessé par balle à Memphis. La police a inculpé un parent de 15 ans pour homicide involontaire dans cette affaire.

Ils ont trouvé Ladarrius Payne souffrant d'une blessure par balle et ont prononcé son décès sur place. Le département de police de Memphis a indiqué que le suspect est le neveu de Mme Beasley.
