Patrick Mahomes signs record $504.75 million deal

Patrick Mahomes has agreed to a restructured contract with the Kansas City Chiefs that adds two years and pushes the total value to $504.75 million. The deal makes him the first NFL player to sign a contract worth more than $500 million. However, Matthew Stafford is positioned to reach $500 million in career earnings first.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback reached the agreement this week on an eight-year contract averaging $63.09 million per year. The move also marks Mahomes as the highest-paid player in NFL history based on average annual value.

Stafford, the Los Angeles Rams quarterback, has already earned $408 million across 17 seasons. His recent one-year, $55 million extension means he will reach at least $503 million by the end of 2027 if he plays both seasons.

Mahomes has accumulated $231.9 million in career earnings to date. He is expected to add at least $55 million in 2026, moving him higher on the all-time list.
