Sheinbaum : le gouvernement fédéral n'était pas informé de la collaboration entre Chihuahua et les États-Unis avant l'accident mortel

La présidente Claudia Sheinbaum a déclaré que son administration n'avait aucune connaissance préalable de la collaboration de l'État de Chihuahua avec des agents américains lors d'une opération contre un laboratoire de drogue, laquelle a précédé la mort de deux membres du personnel de l'ambassade des États-Unis et de deux fonctionnaires mexicains dans un accident de voiture à Chihuahua.

L'accident s'est produit le 19 avril sur la route reliant Morelos à Guachochi, peu après le démantèlement par une opération conjointe de laboratoires de méthamphétamine dans la zone, comme l'ont détaillé des reportages précédents. Lors de sa conférence matinale du 20 avril, Sheinbaum a déclaré : « Nous n'étions pas au courant, c'était une décision du gouvernement de Chihuahua. Nous demandons davantage d'informations au gouvernement de Chihuahua. » Elle a présenté ses condoléances aux familles des victimes, notamment celles du chef de l'AEI, Pedro Román Oseguera Cervantes, de l'agent de l'AEI, Manuel Genaro Méndez, et des deux agents américains non identifiés. Le cabinet de sécurité avait contacté l'ambassadeur des États-Unis, Ronald Johnson, la veille. Sheinbaum a noté que les premiers rapports du bureau du procureur étaient incorrects concernant l'implication fédérale, et que les enquêtes examineraient toute violation de la politique de non-intervention du Mexique.
