At the party's campaign kickoff in Upplands Väsby, Jimmie Åkesson announced that the Sweden Democrats reject market rents.
Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson spoke on Saturday during the party's campaign kickoff in Upplands Väsby. He stressed that the party will not introduce market rents either in new production or existing rental apartments.
– We say no, it is not more difficult than that, Åkesson said. He accused the Swedish Union of Tenants and the Social Democrats of spreading a false image of the party's position.
Swedish Union of Tenants chair Marie Linder replied that the organization had clearly stated in its campaign material that SD opposes market rents. The Christian Democrats and Liberals want to introduce free rent setting in new builds, creating a conflict within the Tidö cooperation.
Social Democrat Joakim Järrebring questioned SD's statement and referred to previous votes.
