A Swedish citizen known as ”El Sueco” has been arrested by Colombian police on suspicion of extensive drug smuggling.

The arrest was confirmed by Colombian police chief William Oswaldo Rincon Zambrano in a post on X. He described the man as one of the most wanted criminals by Swedish authorities and a central figure in international organized crime.

”He constitutes a direct blow to the criminal networks that coordinate cocaine transports to Europe and the United Arab Emirates”, the police chief wrote.

The man had a red notice on Interpol’s list of wanted persons which enabled the arrest in Colombia.
