Syracuse Crunch's Halverson earns AHL goaltender of the month for February

Brandon Halverson of the Syracuse Crunch has been named the American Hockey League's Goaltender of the Month for February. The veteran netminder posted an undefeated record in six starts, helping his team secure key victories. His performance highlighted a strong month with low goals against and high save percentages.

The American Hockey League announced that Brandon Halverson of the Syracuse Crunch is the Goaltender of the Month for February. Halverson went 6-0-0 last month, allowing just 10 goals on 151 shots for a 1.67 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage across his six starts.

Halverson's month began with 27 saves in a 4-3 win over Springfield on Feb. 4. He followed with 21 saves in a 5-2 victory at Belleville on Feb. 7 and recorded a shutout against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Feb. 14, stopping all 16 shots. On Feb. 18, he made 21 saves in a 2-1 win over Belleville, then earned another shutout with 25 stops in a 4-0 decision against Charlotte on Feb. 20. He capped the month with 31 saves in a 6-4 win over Laval on Feb. 28, marking his sixth straight victory and a personal best.

This season, Halverson holds a 19-6-3 record in 29 appearances for Syracuse, with a 2.25 goals-against average ranking sixth in the AHL, a .910 save percentage placing tenth, and five shutouts tying for first. The 10th-year professional from Traverse City, Mich., has appeared in 138 career AHL games with Syracuse, Tucson, and Hartford, compiling a 66-49-18 record, 2.66 GAA, .903 save percentage, and 11 shutouts. In the 2024-25 season, he co-received the Harry “Hap” Holmes Memorial Award for the team allowing the fewest goals per game.

Originally selected in the second round by the New York Rangers in the 2014 NHL Draft, Halverson has played three NHL games, including one this season with Tampa Bay.
