On Tuesday, an elderly couple in their 90s was found heavily drugged in their home in Gothenburg. According to reports to Aftonbladet, a woman in her 40s is suspected of entering the home by claiming to be from home care services. When the real home care staff arrived, an ambulance was called, and the couple was taken to hospital where they were treated in intensive care.
Police spokesperson Jennifer Last says: "They were taken to hospital in unclear condition." Reports indicate the couple ingested a very high dose of unknown drugs. The crime is being investigated as gross assault.
Prosecutor Maria Thorell declines to comment on details due to the ongoing investigation but states that the couple's lives do not appear to be in danger. "They will make it as it looks," she says.
The motive remains unclear, and it is unknown if anything was stolen from the home. The suspected woman was detained on Monday.
