The Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Chilean Navy (Shoa) ruled out the possibility of a tsunami on the Chilean coast following an earthquake off Japan's shore. The quake, measuring 6.5 in magnitude, struck at 18:52 hours with its epicenter 172 kilometers east of Hachinohe in the Pacific Ocean.
