A 20-year-old man was found murdered inside a math at Samiyar Thottam in Vyasarpadi in the early hours of Wednesday. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Naresh. He was found lying in a pool of blood with severe injuries and his face mutilated. The murder is suspected to have taken place around 3 a.m.
Local residents alerted the police, who recovered the body and sent it to the Government Stanley Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Investigators are analysing CCTV footage from the area to trace the assailants. They are exploring multiple motives for the killing, including a possible clash between rival criminal groups or a personal dispute.
