Autopsy reveals suffocation as cause of KMTC student's death

A postmortem examination has shown that Kenya Medical Training College student Anne Odhiambo died from suffocation and multiple internal injuries. The autopsy was conducted on July 10 at the Nairobi Funeral Home following her discovery in a hostel room on July 7.

The examination found black marks around her tongue, indicating a lack of oxygen, along with bite marks on her abdomen and blood traces from the nose. Samples were taken for toxicology tests as police continue their probe into the circumstances.

Odhiambo, who was studying for a Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine, was found on the floor of her room in the Kenyatta Hostel at the KMTC Nairobi Campus around 11pm on July 7. An altercation with other students over a missing item of clothing had been reported before her death. Several students have been questioned.

The college stated that the incident was reported to security agencies and that it is cooperating with investigations. Relatives who attended the postmortem have called for swift action to identify those responsible.
