Bad Gyal releases sophomore album Más Cara

Spanish artist Bad Gyal has released her second album, Más Cara, under Interscope Records, blending Latin urban sounds with international rhythms. The 19-track project features collaborations and marks a more collaborative creative process compared to her previous work. In an interview, she breaks down five essential tracks from the album.

Bad Gyal, the artist from Barcelona, unveiled her sophomore album Más Cara on March 5, 2026, via Interscope Records. The release comprises 19 tracks that mix her foundational Latin urban influences, including reggaetón and dancehall, with fresh explorations into genres such as merengue, guaracha, and kompa. She emphasizes her perspective as a Barcelona native inspired by Caribbean music culture, stating, “I’m not Puerto Rican or Jamaican, so it’s not the original sound. But I am a huge fan and deeply inspired by all Caribbean music culture, and you can feel that.”

This album differs from her 2024 debut La Joia, which she created more independently. For Más Cara, executive producer Cromo X and Interscope's Nir Seroussi assembled a team for collaborative sessions, resulting in co-writing by Bad Gyal throughout. The title, translating to “more expensive,” reflects her elevated resources and career stage, as she notes, “I feel much more elevated.”

Collaborations include “La Iniciativa” with J Álvarez, “Choque” with Chencho Corleone, and “Muñeca” with De La Rose. A music video accompanies “Un Coro y Ya :)”, evoking an early 2000s R&B style.

Bad Gyal highlights five key tracks. “Más Cara” stands as the most commercial entry, infused with Jamaican dancehall synth pads, capturing her evolution. “Un Coro y Ya :)” channels late ’90s and early 2000s R&B, addressing women's confidence against male bravado. “Choque”, produced by Looney Tunes, fulfills her dream collaboration with Chencho Corleone of Plan B, recreating classic reggaetón energy. “Noticia de Ayer” fuses house and merengue, featuring percussion and horns from musicians who worked with Omega, an artist she admires. Finally, “La Iniciativa”, produced by Montana the Producer, revives 2010s reggaetón vibes from J Álvarez's era, using beats from an old computer to evoke nostalgia.

The album arrives amid her growing international presence, building on her urban roots.
