Badgers track and field teams dominate early invitationals

The Wisconsin Badgers men's and women's track and field teams performed strongly in throwing events at the Panther Tune Up in Milwaukee and set a record at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Indiana, on February 21. These results position the teams well ahead of the Big Ten Indoor Championships. The athletes achieved multiple personal bests and top finishes across various events.

On February 21, the Wisconsin Badgers track and field squads showcased their prowess in two key early-season meets. At the UW-Milwaukee Panther Tune Up, four Badgers competitors swept the throwing events, securing first place in men's shot put, women's shot put, and women's weight throw.

Junior Kyle Clabough led the men's shot put with a personal record throw of 18.05 meters, surpassing all competitors by at least three meters and marking his second first-place finish of the season. In the women's shot put, sophomore Zonica Lindeque achieved a personal best of 16.74 meters for first place, her second consecutive victory and fifth straight top-five result. This performance ranks her fifth on the school's all-time shot put list.

The women's weight throw also saw Badger success, with sophomore Nora Skoraczewski throwing a personal best of 20.25 meters to take first and enter ninth on the school's weight throw records. Sophomore Morgan Flaska followed in second with 18.92 meters, another personal best and her season-best finish.

Meanwhile, at Notre Dame's Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Indiana, the Badger men's distance medley relay team—comprising Andrew Casey, Jalen Williams, Patrick Hilby, and Archie Noakes—set a new school record with a time of 9:18.44. This mark improved on the previous record of 9:19.99 from 2023 by over a second and a half, earning second place in the meet. The time also places third in the Big Ten and sixth nationally, bolstering prospects for the upcoming championships.

Freshman Cillian Gleeson competed in the mile, finishing sixth with a time of 4:07.61.

These accomplishments provide momentum as the Badgers prepare for the Big Ten Indoor Championships in Indianapolis this week.
