Club Atlético Barracas Central has separated footballer Gonzalo Morales from the professional squad as a preventive measure following the filing of a gender violence complaint.
The Buenos Aires club confirmed the decision on Monday, July 27, 2026, through a statement on its social media. Morales, 23 and on loan from Boca Juniors, had scored the winning goal against River Plate the previous Saturday.
In the statement, the institution expressed its absolute rejection of all forms of gender violence and pledged to cooperate with judicial authorities. “It has been resolved to separate him from the Primera División professional squad,” the official text stated.
The complaint was filed by his ex-partner Karen, who described physical, psychological and verbal attacks as well as threats from the player’s family. The club reaffirmed its commitment to due process and respect for court decisions.
