Bolelli and Vavassori defend ABN AMRO Open doubles title

Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori claimed back-to-back victories at the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam by defeating Ray Ho and Hendrik Jebens 6-3, 6-4 in the final. The Italian duo avenged an earlier loss to the same opponents at the Australian Open. This success makes them the first team to defend an ATP 500 doubles crown since 2009-10.

The fourth-seeded Italians faced qualifiers Ho and Jebens in the championship match, securing the win in 67 minutes. They saved three out of four break points faced and converted all three opportunities they created, dropping just one set throughout the tournament in the semi-finals. This marks their eighth title together and their first of the 2026 season.

Vavassori shared his satisfaction after the match: "Very happy. It’s one of our favourite tournaments of the season. For sure the best indoors, and we love to play in this beautiful stadium." He added that the pair improved steadily during the week and planned to carry the momentum into upcoming events in Doha and Dubai. Bolelli echoed the sentiment: "Really happy with the trophy. Back to back is always nice, we defended the title really good this year and this is our first trophy of 2026. So this is good confidence for us for the rest of the season."

In other finals on the same Sunday, Theo Arribage and Albano Olivetti of France captured the Nexo Dallas Open title, their third of the year, by upsetting top seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos 6-3, 7-6(4). The French pair, fresh off a win in Montpellier, also beat Australian Open champions Christian Harrison and Neal Skupski in the quarter-finals. They fired 10 aces and won 83 percent of first-serve points, rising to third in the live doubles rankings and becoming the first Frenchmen to win in Dallas.

Meanwhile, at the IEB+ Argentina Open in Buenos Aires, Brazilian duo Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos prevailed over local hopefuls Andrea Collarini and Nicolas Kicker 7-5, 6-3. The Argentines, in their first tour-level final, sought to emulate Maximo Gonzalez and Horacio Zeballos, the last all-Argentine winners in 2019. Luz noted the support from Brazilian fans, while Matos highlighted the tough conditions and competitive points over 92 minutes, where they saved four of five break points.
