British players set Guinness record for longest padel rally

Four padel enthusiasts from Britain have achieved a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous rally in the sport. The players completed 4,447 shots over one hour at a facility in Blackburn, Lancashire. This marks the first official recognition of such a feat in padel.

Last week, at Clubhouse, a premium indoor padel facility in Blackburn, Lancashire, four players made history by setting a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous padel rally. Mark Friend, Noah Heap, Jamie Lynn, and Zak Holgate sustained a rally of 4,447 shots, lasting exactly one hour. This achievement, validated by Guinness World Records adjudicators after formal submission of evidence, establishes them as the inaugural holders of the title.

The challenge demanded precision and endurance: every shot had to be a clean hit across the net, landing legally within the court boundaries, with allowances for rebounds off the glass walls and volleys. Any interruption would have ended the attempt immediately. Mark Friend, reflecting on the mental toll, shared: “Sixty minutes was mentally draining but the burden was shared well as a team of four!”

The players, who were complete strangers less than six months ago, connected through the vibrant padel community at Clubhouse. The facility, which boasts six courts, opened in September and has quickly become a hub for enthusiasts in the region. Support for the record attempt came from Zylo, a brand with a strong community focus, which provided the rackets and balls used in the rally.

This record highlights the growing popularity of padel, a sport blending elements of tennis and squash, in the UK. The feat not only showcases individual stamina but also the collaborative spirit fostered at local venues like Clubhouse.
