Buenos Aires sends data on 13,000 alimony debtors to US for 2026 World Cup

The Buenos Aires city government sent the US government the database of the Public Registry of Delinquent Alimony Payers with more than 13,000 people to prevent their entry to 2026 World Cup matches.

The information was sent by the Buenos Aires Ministry of Justice, led by Gabino Tapia, under the Tribuna Segura program. The goal is for US authorities to identify alimony debtors who hold tickets and apply admission rights to block their access to stadiums.

Jorge Macri, head of the city government, stated: “The one who does not fulfill such a basic obligation as feeding his children must face consequences”. The official noted that the measure extends internationally the controls already applied in local stadiums since March 2025.

To date, 187 operations have been carried out in the city that detected 162 debtors. In 2026 so far the trend accelerated with 91 operations and 87 people prevented from entering. The registry includes agreements with 13 provinces and aims to protect the rights of children and adolescents.
