Twin brothers Liam and Markus Ruck were selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL Draft, fulfilling their long-held wish to remain in the same organization.
The 18-year-old Canadians played for the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL last season. Markus recorded 108 points with 21 goals and 87 assists as a center, while Liam tallied 104 points including 45 goals from the wing. They finished first and second in scoring across the Canadian Hockey League.
Markus Ruck described feeling stressed during the draft process. "Jag var ganska stressad. Liam sa till mig att allt skulle ordna sig," he told Canadian Press. He added that the brothers had hoped Pittsburgh would pick both but viewed the odds as low.
The twins are expected to play one more season with Medicine Hat Tigers before joining the University of North Dakota for the 2027/28 campaign.
