The 79th Cannes Film Festival closed on Saturday evening with the Palme d'Or awarded to Cristian Mungiu for Fjord.

Other awards were shared. Virginie Efira and Tao Okamoto received the best actress prize ex aequo. Javier Ambrossi, Javier Calvo and Pawel Pawlikowski shared the best director prize. The ceremony, hosted by Eye Haïdara, featured political speeches on the state of the world.
