Carlos Alcaraz claimed the ESPY for Best Tennis Player, edging out rivals Jannik Sinner, Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina despite missing the past four months with injury.
The 23-year-old Spaniard earned the honour for his 2025 season, when he compiled a 71-9 record and secured eight titles, including two Grand Slams and four Masters 1000 events. Fans voted after the awards recognised performances from the previous calendar year.
Alcaraz completed the Career Grand Slam with victory at the Australian Open earlier in 2026. He had already received the Laureus World Sports Award for Best Athlete of 2025.
The injured player is scheduled to return at the Cincinnati Open in August. Nominees Sinner, Sabalenka and Rybakina also posted strong 2025 campaigns but finished behind Alcaraz in the fan vote.
