British showjumper Carmen Edwards has commended the Al Shira’aa Bolesworth International organisers for their efforts to protect horses during a recent heatwave.
Edwards highlighted several measures taken at the event. These included misting stations, barrels of water near the rings and early opening of stables.
She noted that the water pressure was good, allowing quick washing of horses. Everyone brought their own fans, but the team did all it could to support welfare.
In the Grand Prix on Sunday, Trevor Breen took the win with his brother Shane finishing runner-up. Course builders Colm Quinn and Raf Suarez were praised for the track design.
Edwards also commented on the Puissance held on Saturday night, which started with a 1.35m wall.
